1010 Fuel Line

Post by wwattson » Tue Sep 18, 2007 8:09 pm

Does anybody happen to know the size and material for a 1010 fuel line? The parts book only lists a Deere part number long gone. I'm guessing 1/4" and copper but I'd like to get back as close to stock as practical. Thanks.

Do you think it was 1/4" Lavoy?

I thought it was, unless 5/16" is a common size. As far as line, I would use brake line, it is plated I think.

I'm thinking you're right on 1/4" Lavoy. The surviving fittings from the original line don't seem like they would be big enough for 5/16" tube and that isn't that common of a size.

While we're on tube sizes, is the pressure side hydraulic tubing 5/8"? That's what I was planning on using because I have the correct flaring and bending tools for 5/8" as that's the size used for my other "red" project. It looks like 5/8" from all the descriptions in the parts book but it's still kind of a guess because it only lists old Deere part numbers and not sizes.

Bill,
Not sure on that one, although that is a common size on these things.

You know what, now that Steve says that, I think the 1010 is 5/16 or 3/8, I know it is definitely bigger than a 420.

It's 3/8". It occurred to me that although the fuel line wasn't listed in the parts system anymore, the associated fittings probably were. SCORE. They're all 3/8" OD fittings both side of the strainer. Somebody switched mine out for 1/4" at some time but I'm sure they should be 3/8".

As to the hydraulic line, I'm going with the 5/8". The Correct Police may have to issue a ticket at some point in the future but it's just too much money to buy the tooling to do a different size and it is large enough to support the sort of volumes the pump is capable of.
