i pulled a drive becouse of another leaking seal on the drive, i pulled the clutches and found the steels to be vary rusty witch was suprising becouse it's used often. can i polish them with a DA sander or die grinder with a scotch brite wheel or sand blast them lightly, being carefull not to take to much material, how thick should they be? all fibers are in spec. should i be looking at new ones?
thanks nick

I would replace the discs "both fiber and steel" because pulling off finals is not my idea of fun, pressure plate, throwout bearing and brake band too.
do it all one time and you won't have to go back in there for years.

I am amazed how many people go threw the trouble of pulling a final off and don't replace everything, you have the right idea, replace the discs both steel and fiber and be done with it,make sure that brake band is right too"no oil or rusty".
