Governor spacer

Post by FarmLife » Sat Oct 27, 2007 3:27 pm

The spacer that goes between the governor weights and the fork connected the the governor rod. First off are both ends of that spacer supposed to turn and if only one end is supposed to turn which way is it supposed to go. The non turning end against the governor weights, or the ther way around. Or is that spacer just froze up and I need a new one. Thanks for the help.

I think what you are referring to is the governor thrust bearing. If neither end will turn, you need a new one or damage will result.

What I have now the one end will turn freely but the other end rotates with the center section of the thurst bearing. What I understand both ends should turn independently of the center section. Lavoy do you have these available cause I am having a feeling I will be needing one that works correctly.

No, yours is correct, one end rotates, one end is staionary. The governor rotates, the forks do not, so only one end rotates so to speak.
