crawler shuts down

Post by spooler » Sun Jul 17, 2005 2:51 pm

Anyone have a similar shut down?....just working away, didnt think it was tooo hot..but... It was like someone hit my ignition switch...she just idled down and quit...15 minutes later she started and kept going ...no problem...Is there some kind of overheat shut down on a 420 crawler?

This has happened twice...in the same day...not since..

Thanks for your help,
Chuck

Chuck,
I would be that your coil is shot. I would put in a new coil, and new points and condenser.

Also check your fuel tank for lots of crud or rust. Moving around can stir it up and clog the fuel screen. After it stops (runs out of gas), the crud settles and fuel flows until the next clog.

problem solved

Post by spooler » Thu Jul 21, 2005 12:56 am

I have a solution! While working on fuel, spark and air...I happened to bump my ignition switch, to one of the other settings...Viola! ...she kept running!
Seems I had a short in the first setting of the switch. If the Lord didn't look out for sinners and fools . I wouldn't have a chance, at all.

Thanks for all your help.
hit 88f today!
