1010 final drive disassembly question 3

Post by stmftr395 » Thu Nov 15, 2007 7:33 pm

I've made up a puller from angle and 5/8" threaded rod, for pulling the quill and outside bearing from the flanged axle shaft. Using a 10 ton port-a-power I made the 1st attempt at removing the bearing. After applying a considerable amount of pressure, although not maxed out, there was no noticeable movement. My concern is that while removing the bearing and quill to replace the seal I will ruin the bearing. Anybody have any experience with this issue in the past? I belive that even if I have to replace the bearing I should still proceed in order to replace the seal? What are your thoughts. Mark
