MC Hand Crank

Post by FarmLife » Sun Nov 18, 2007 12:24 pm

Does anyone know if a starter crank for a L/LA is the same size as one for an M/MC. I would like to have one for my MC but am not sure if there are other cranks that will fit. And to go along with this, how well do these engines start by hand?

I think the crawler crank is unique to the crawlers, but not 100% sure. They will only hand crank if you have power in the battery, so kind of defeats the purpose. I have never tried it, so don't know how well it would work either way. My dad had a bunch of stainless steel pins and rods sticking out of his arm for a couple months one time due to handcranking an engine, and he was doing it the right way. I don't think I have hand cranked an engine since that day, that is why god invented log chains and booster cables.

I have not see it for a while, and don't remember the name, but there is a guy making new repro cranks. Do some searcing on the web, he should show up sooner or later. I wish I could remember who it is, but CRS strikes again.
