Post by bulldozerman » Fri Dec 07, 2007 4:35 pm

How well does the winch work, if i was to get my dozer stuck, would it pull it out? Or is more for show than function.

The winch is rated at 9,250 pounds pull at full throttle and first wrap on the drum. Let me tell you, that is the most PESSIMISTIC rating I have ever seen. I tried pulling and or pushing the carcass of a 1010 crawler the other day with a 5 roller 420, 62 blade, and a Gearmatic 8G on the back. I would spin out pushing or pulling, so I hooked the cable of the winch to it. I spooled out about 50 feet of cable and enganged the winch. Ever seen a big ugly 7000lb yellow boat anchoe on the end of a 1/2" cable before? Needless to say, at about 4 wraps, and 1/3 throttle, the 1010 went exaclty where it was told to go whether it liked it or not. If the engine would keep running, you could hang the crawler like a Christmas tree ornament with the winch.
