1010 final drive seal tool

Post by stmftr395 » Sun Dec 16, 2007 8:20 am

Got far enough along with the final drive assembly that I used the seal installation(AM2774T) tool I made. Worked fine. The only measurement that appeared to be close to the limit was the area that the seal was located on after the "nose " was removed. Mine is .7350" and is just long enough. .7500" would probably be a little safer, but also about as long as it should be. .7500" will just stick the the retainer. As I found out some knurling on the boss of the tool would help when removing it. With grease and lubri plate coated fingers a smooth boss is tough to twist out as discribed in the repair manual. Lavoy if you measure the tool I made for you and it is less than .7350 as discribed above let me know and I will make a replacement. Mark

Mark,
For some reason, I think I used it already and it worked fine, but I could be wrong. I know one of the ones I made years ago I made it almost an inch long, the extra length doesn't hurt anything.
The originals were knurled, and you are right, it does help a lot.
