1010 Radiator Hoses

Post by wwattson » Sat Dec 22, 2007 11:54 am

Anybody ever found an equivalent set of hoses for the upper and lower radiator hoses on an early 1010C? I went ahead and got the lower hose from Deere but I still haven't found the upper hose. Thanks.

Bill,
The T16836 is still current from Deere, it subs to T25960. I think yours is an earlier serial number, but I bet the dimensions will be close enough to work.

Thanks for the reply Lavoy. My 1010 has a serial number less than 21900 so the hose is listed as part T14952. I looked at the T25960 hose to see if it would work but the parts description scared me off a bit as it looks from the description like a straight hose and the one I've got is a moulded hose with a 45 roughly in the middle. The other thing was that it's shown as 6.72 inches long and the existing hose is 5" on one leg and 4" on the other so it looks like it would end up being about inch or so short. The later crawlers used a longer thermostat cover (gooseneck) that makes up the length difference.

It looks like the Deere hose is specified for a 2" radius bend so I might swing back through the system by parts specification and see if I can find a straight hose closer to 9" long and I think it should work and look fine.

On a side note, I got the water temp and fuel gauges from JerryTrcka and got to say that they're a perfect match to the originals. Jerry did a really nice job on both and they look great.

Bill,
I guess I never looked at the spec on the parts page, I was looking at the image in the parts book, and it is very similar. I guess worst case scenario is to gamble a few bucks and see what it looks like. If you strike out, let me know, and I will do some more digging.

Fair enough Lavoy. Deere lists another hose, TY22407, that is all the correct lengths but slightly more angle (60 vs. 45). It sells for under $5 and the T25960 for about $17 my cost. I guess for under $25 I can find out if either will work. I'll let everybody know.

You can always take some of the bend out of the cheaper part. When ever I re-plumb a sprayer, I have a crock pot I plug in with a 66/34 antifreeze/water mix and heat up to 200 or more. Just dip the hose end in and it is lubricated and soft and makes the stiffest hose go on the barb easy. Works really good on 2" reinforced hose that you would not have a prayer to get on otherwise.

Well here's the answer. Below is a picture of the two hoses I bought from Deere and the original. The middle hose is the original. The hose at the bottom is TY22407 that I picked out of the parts book by specification and costs $4.68. The top hose is the T25960 that is listed as the substitute for the later model 1010 gas crawlers at $16.50. The TY22407 is a perfect match to the original T14952 used on the early (10001-21900) 1010 crawlers. It's the same length, diameter, and bend angle as the original hose and is a quarter of the price.

The T25960 is too long and too sharp an angle to fit an early 1010 gas. I think it would work if trimmed to length but you would still have to back bend the angle to get it to fit.

If anybody needs a hose for a late 1010 gas or diesel, I've got one here for my cost plus shipping.
