Use of Reverser

Post by charless » Fri Jan 25, 2008 2:42 pm

If you were to keep the clutch depressed (disengaged) in your 440's would the reverser operate the machine....that is to say, move it backward and forward?

Hi,

I know about Jorde's, and I know there stuff is good, but I don't need to contact them for anything for myself. Since my wife has her own screenprinting and sign shop, I just make up my own stuff as I need it. Handy! :)

What I was thinking is that the reverser is a fairly rare item on a wheel tractor. They're more common on a crawler, although crawlers are far fewer than wheel tractors are. Anyway, after all that figuring, I figure that there might not be enough call for reverser instruction decals, so there's probably none available commercially these days.

So, I was asking if anyone knows of a commercially available replacement decal - and the original one on my 420 is, indeed, a decal and not a direct silkscreen print onto the metal like the yellow stripe, John Deere name and 420 number is.

If there's a commercial one available out there, I won't bother reinventing the thing. If there is not, then I'll make some up and send them to Lavoy for our use since we're pretty much the balance of old Deere crawler folks these days. :)

Well, I'll see if I can rope my wife into making up a screen for the decal, that is. I don't do that often enough to be any good at it. She owes me, though, since a couple weeks back I had to take some of my time and un-screw up what a paid (over $500) machine mechanic did to our main textile press while he was 'aligning' it. :P

later!

I don't know if they are readily available or not. I think that Travis has them, I know I had one at one time, can't find it right now. I will do some digging and see if I can find it.
