420 c finding history info

Post by lowboy » Mon Aug 08, 2005 11:20 am

Hello
After talking to a friend in Iowa he has told me that some 420's were red
I have found some red paint on mine Dash engine block ect.
The kid I bought mine from said his dad has had it for 30 plus years
He also said the engine was rebuilt Yeah right
It has been repainted many years ago with a paint brush
Any leads or inffo on where to look would be helpful
thanks lowboy

A few tractors were red, they were painted that way for a municipality somewhere, can't remember where. You can research the serial number through Two Cylinder club, but it will not tell you anything about the red paint. Most it might have is a CJ number, but custion jobs could refer to just about anything.

I have one 420 that was originally orange. I think it came from a hwy dept in PA but that stuff is hard to verify as Dubuque didn't keep detailed records. You could special order any color from Deere if you were willing to pay the upcharge.
