Finals from a 1010 destined for a 440?

Post by lizrad999 » Mon Mar 03, 2008 4:29 pm

I have one cracked final housing (T10004T) on my dozer (440IC), and have a chance to get two (T18867T) housings from a 1010. Does anyone know if the housings are interchangable? I would love to get the newer ones as they have the "webbing" in the casting. Just not sure if it is worth a 24 hour drive (round trip) plus the $ for the finals and gas!

Thanks!

lizrad 999,

Couldn't find that number in the 440 parts book. I think the 1010 used the same final as the late 440 for a while. This had the large coarse splines on the axle shaft and Bull gear wheras the later 1010 finals I understand had fine splines on the shaft and corresponding gear. Don't know what other differences there are.

Chuck,
I wasn't able to find that number in my parts books either. I had asked the guy selling them to get me the number, and that is what he gave me.
Oh well, auction has ended and I didn't bid. Guess I'll keep looking for a replacement T10004T (or one that someone can say for sure does fit!)

Sorry I missed this post, I think I have a final drive case, if you want me to double check, give me a call, or e-mail.
