What bulldozer model on a JD440 IC?

Post by Gil » Wed Apr 02, 2008 8:23 pm

Can anyone help me identify the model of the bulldozer blade on my JD440 IC? It has a boom located outside of the crawler tracks. It does not have angling arms that flair outward at the blade. The blade has rods with turnbuckles that fit into eyes on the boom to angle into one of three fixed position: right, left, or straight. The lift cylinders are mounted horizontally. There are no slotted cylinder guards like there are with the Models 616,624,625, or 626.

I always assumed that this was a John Deere bulldozer unit but it may not be. I looked at all the available parts manuals on the jdpc.deere.com web site and it does not match any of those pictured.

If its a John Deere blade it sounds like a model 602 but I never saw one with turnbuckles.
Can you post some photos?

I have digital pictures but I don't have a website where I can post them. My understanding is that I cannot upload them directly to jdcrawlers.com right? If anyone has a place to host them I could attach them to you in an email.

The bulldozer may very well be a Model 602. That was one of the few models that did not have a pdf parts manual on the jdpc website so I could not check it out. I will search the web now and see if I can find a picture of a 602.

You can post to photobucket.com and then link to it; it is easy and free. There are other hosting sites if that one doesn't work for you.
(1) JD Straight 450 crawler dozer with manual outside blade; (2) JD 2010 diesel crawler loaders; (1) JD 2010 diesel dozer with hydraulic 6-way blade; (2) Model 50 backhoe attachments, misc. other construction equipment

You can host them there, go to the show and tell section, there are directions on how to there.

Well it took a while to upload this picture. Seems I had to make the Microsoft Vista gods happy with a days worth of effort and prayer.
But here is my bulldozer. Is it a Model 602?

That is not a Deere 602 blade.
Not sure what it is.
Here is a photo of a 440 with a 602 blade.

The "custom" seat is from a roll over that killed the operator.
Other than that the machine is in good shape and for sale.

That looks like a nice machine. How did someone roll that machine over?

I don't know the story.
It is on a dealer's lot.
They sold it to the victim.
Before he bought it they replaced the steering clutches along with a lot of other smaller work.
The only damage from the roll is the seat, dash and some levers.
They are being replaced now.
They are asking $7,500.00.
