hydraulic resevoiur

Post by justjd420 » Sun Apr 13, 2008 2:31 pm

I have a 420 crawler and I recently took off the pump housing that sit on top of the hydrauilc resevoir. I noticed that the rod assembly under the pump housing that draws the oil from the tank was very loose seeming like it should somehow be sealed better to the resevoir??? How should it be and why so loose as if dirt would be able to get into tank. I removed the pump from the tank and the rod is attached as it shoud be???

That is the valve, not the pump, and the line you are referring to is the return line out of the valve, it does not need to be tight. There is an o-ring in the bottom valve section to seal the return line in the valve, and a compression seal in the top of the hyd reservoir.

the return line from the valve on my tractor is real loose as it just sits in the hyd resevoir opening. I am good with the line as to how it fastens in the valve but it must some how seal better as it meets the resevoir. the line is real loose as it sits in the tank.

The compression nut may be loose, or the packing piece may have disintegrated. Also make sure to check if the threaded part on the tank has broken loose.

hrdraulic valve assembly

Post by justjd420 » Sat Apr 19, 2008 6:27 pm

Does anybody have an exploded view of a two valve hydraulic assembly that is on my 420 crawler. I replaced a blown cylinder on my crawler blade and in doing so I disassembled the valve and the base that it attaches to that mounts on the hyrd tank. The base has a line that dips into the hydr tank. Since I reassembled the unit I now have a heavey amount of fluid pouring out from the base of the valve where the tank line connects. This wasn't the case prior to me cleaning all the caked dirt that built up over the years. Is there something like a rubber ring that is located inside of the base that the valve attaches to so to prevent fluid from leaking all over the tank below the assembly??? THe line that dips into the tank is held in place by a lock washer and appaes to have been real loose to begin with when I took apart.

I would also be interested in purchasing any packing kit or seals to stop leak for this hydr valve unit that are for sale.

Ok, Now I have a real problem. As Lavoy suggested, the threaded portion of my Hyrd tank is broken off clean from the tank. OUCH> Now can this piece be brazed back on the tank?????? Is there a way to make an adapter plate and secure broken piece on top of the tank with gasket and screws???
