1010 upper idler seals

Post by stmftr395 » Mon May 05, 2008 7:26 pm

I will be using 350 upper idlers on my 1010. Have taken the idlers apart to clean and inspect. Checked with JD and they want $140 for replacement seals. The parts man admitted that these were spendy and that he could get after market at a greatly reduced price. Is there a $100+ difference in quality between the oem and aftermarket seals? Whats your feeling? Lavoy, do you sell these seals?

Yes I do, they are $20 each, normally I keep several on hand. The seal surface itself is the only difference I can see. OEM is rawhide, the aftermarket are something that would appear like cork, but I am sure that is not it.
