timing of the oil pump

My boy posted this
We need to know where to set the pump notch when the cam gear is set on the marks.as I see it the pump needs to be probably needs to be positioned correctly.
Also when the clutch plate is bolted to the flywheel the fingers are 15/16 off the pressure plate. The clutch seemed to slip.Do I need to replace the clutch plate. There is no burnt spots like the clutch was slipping. The clutch plate still has the factory grooves in it.
thanks

To time the oil pump, put the engine on TDC compression #1 cylinder. The slot in the oil pump should be parallel with the crankshaft give or take, and the narrow side of the slot should be to the outside.
Finger position is not the only idicator of a bad pressure plate, it could be weak springs as well.
