R & R 1010 steering clutch

Post by townlineterry » Sun Jun 01, 2008 7:40 pm

Redoing the right steering clutch on my 1010. Put in new fiber discs used the old drive plates as they met tolerances. When I bolted the pressure plate to the brake drum could not adjust the fingers properly, the are to low. Only way to get the right height adjustment is to back off the mounting bolts this leaves about a 1/32 gap between the brake drum and the feet on the pressure plate.

Has anyone one else had this problem? Am I missing something when I reassembled it?

Don't want to put the final drive on and then have to take it back off.

My solution at this point is to put washers under the pressure plate to get the right height.

Also the manual shows a spring on the end of the driveshaft called a equalizer spring. It wasn't there when I took it apart, how improtant is it?

Terry

P.s. Lavoy tnesioners came on Thursday, great service thanks

I had one of those apart one time and it had a spring on one side with none on the other .And it worked well in the steering department at the time .As for the clutch pack my Dad was great for if he had enough extra space he would put an extra steel face in the clutch .Might not be right but it worked for years like that .Digitup.

Is it the same clutch gauge as what you sent me for the 420?

We have a customer's 1010 apart to eventually go back together... like in the year 2011...
