All 420's should have the dipstick in that location. Very high serial number 420's may have the dipstick boss on the RH side of the engine block, but it is not machined. Also, in any 420, it is possible to have an engine block with a RH dipstick, as this was the replacement block for all 420, 430, and 440 wheel tractors and crawlers. In the last 50 years, it is not hard to believe that more than a few 420's got the replacement block, I personally have seen several. Same song on the 40's and 320's, I have seen several with the RH dipstick 330 block installed. This block was also the replacement block for all of the 4" bore Dubuqes in later years.

Hi,

My 420c is very late in the phase-III production and it came from the factory with the RH dipstick in 1958. Just for reference, as I've never seen another 420 this way.
