440 Reverser woes
Finally, with the help of the former owner,I was able to adjust my forward clutch in the reverser.Mirrors are a great thing.Anyway,5-6 turns in either direction still did not enable the tractor to go forward. You guys think I have to take her apart?
Found the skull to the mastodon in Hyde Park, youngest one ever found so far in the world in 2000.

Tuney,
When you changed the fluid in the reverser, did you get any metalic bits and pieces out? As I recall, once you have located the button to release the adjusting nut you turn the side of the adjusting nut closest to you DOWN (clockwise ) to tighten the clutch. If you go too far it will not "snap over". Do you get any "snap"at all when you push the lever forward? If not and you turn the adjusting nut as far as it will go (wiggling the shifter lever as you turn the nut and checking the snap of the lever every couple of notches on the adjuster nut) without any forward motion with the machine then you are probably going to get to see what the insides of a reverser looks like. Mine adjusted up fine and works great but I did get some small fragments of disk out with the fluid
good luck,
Chuck
