2010 Sprockets

Post by robotmaker » Mon Jun 16, 2008 9:41 am

Lavoy and all,
I found a used set of sprockets for a post 42000 JD2010 and have taken posession of them. Since I had one of mine off (pre 42000 mounted on my post 42000 crawler) I turned it upside down and laid the new ones on top of them. I can't see any measurable difference between them. So I threaded on the new rails (without installing the pads yet) and ran them around on the sprockets and do not see or feel any binding. The crawler is still up off the floor tho with no weight on the tracks. Will I see any difference in this setup after putting it back on the ground? You told me awhile back that if my pre 42000 sprockets were worn enough that they may work with these newer 1-3/4" bushing rails.
Thanks
rj

Yes, if there is enough wear, they will sit in the cup. Where you might encounter a problem is as the rails wear and the pitch elongates, they may tend to climb. Then again, if the sprockets wear along with the rails, it may not bother either.
