2010 with PAT- part it out or sell as is?

Post by JD430C » Sat Jun 21, 2008 9:16 pm

hello all, i have a friend that has a later 2010 with the factory PAT blade. has a new undercarriage and rebuilt motor. he just got it back together and it steers good, transmission is a little sticky from sittting, but is starting to shift better with use. still needs some work to be nice. he bought a 450C and doesnt want to work on it anymore.he would like to get 3500. is it worth selling whole or parting out? i could use the motor for my 2010, but he doesnt want to be stuck with the rest and i cant afford the whole thing. opinions? thanks

If I were to guess, I would say that he could probably get a little more money parting it out than selling whole, assuming he kept to the $3500 asking price, that it is a diesel, and that he would scrap the frame after parting out.

Obviously the time and effort to part it out would be the issue and the hassle of messing with it after parting out. I am also not a fan of selling old iron, for scrap but if he parted out enough of the 2010, he could help out a lot of other owners in the process.

Only if you were in the Midwest- otherwise I would think about going in on it with you.

Yes, he will get more money out of parting it, if he lives long enough. It is more likely that his widow will sell it to the scrap man after he dies. 2010 parts are extremely slow selling, and once the fast moving stuff is gone, you have a lot of scrap iron left.

thanks guys, sounds like i will have to buy the whole machine and use the motor in my 2010w. then either find a motor for the crawler or use the remains for my hot rod crawler.
