2010 head ?

Post by Stretch » Mon Jun 23, 2008 6:16 am

Hello everyone, I just aquired a cylinder head from a shop that looks identical to a 2010 cylinder head. The head has been completely rebuilt and has no cracks. The only difference that I found is the oil drain back holes in the front and rear of the head are not there on this head. It wouldn't take much to machine the head and drill the holes but I don't believe it would be necessary. Besides these two oil drains have been a problem leaking around the deck to liner plate on the 2010.
This head also had the early model turbulance chambers with the large glow plugs. As far as I can see I can swap the turbulance chamber tops and everything would be fine.
The casting number on this head is T15959. The parts manual doesn't list this number so I suspect the head may have come from a combine or tractor.
Any suggestions or comments.

I found out the head is for a 155 power unit. JD dealer said that is all it fits, but I can only find one difference in the head from the 2010. That is the oil drain back holes that are at the front and rear of head are not there. I have measured everything I can think of and I see no reason why this head won't work on a 2010. I think I am going to machine the oil drain back holes in the head and give it a try. If it works it may give another alternative for 2010 owners. :)

did you drill the holes? if you did not when you get on a steep side slope left side low oil will pour out of the vent tube i had this happen on a dozer the rear hole got pluged from another problem. it may not be a problem on a loader as much as you might not get on such a steep slope as with a dozer
2010 with 622 dozer with mod. 35 ripper and a 2010 with 622 dozer bought in 1969 and a 2010 loader with drott and mod. 36 ripper
