Ignition

Post by JD440ICD2006 » Sun Jul 06, 2008 2:10 pm

Take off distributor cap, remove cover to get to points. Turn ignition to the run position. Operate the points and see if you are getting a spark between them. If so, try starting and see if you still get a spark. If you are getting spark, remove a spark plug, ground it, and start to make sure you get spark at tip.
If those test work, make sure you have fuel.

No fire at that point means you have an electrical issue. Trace the wires and make sure you have solid connections and a good ground. Start at the battery with a voltage tester, or anything to indicate power. You will find where the break in connection is.
Good luck and keep us posted.
