420 4 Roller with 62 Blade
420 4 Roller with 62 Blade
Was the 420 4 roller available with the 62 blade from JD originally? I have looked at two and they seem to look OK. Any other thoughts on this combo for yard work/play would be helpful. Thanks Eric
Yes it was availalbe, but is not as desireable a combination. The owners manual will tell you that when installed on a 4 roller crawler, always carry the blade low. What that matters, I do not know, but they recommend it. I would not install a 62 blade on a 4 roller that has the standard front idler, it will be really hard on the forward roller. I had a 4 roller 40 at one time with a 61 blade, and the standard front idler, you should have seen the groove worn in the forward roller from all the extra stress put on it.

Hi,
I think the advice to carry the 62 blade low on a 4-roller was so that you'd not get flung off the seat as easily when the thing tipped over forward from all that weight hanging out so far in front of the front idler!
Later!
