1010 Steering proplem

Post by Eddie Joe 1010 » Wed Jul 23, 2008 5:13 pm

Left steer acts like it is putting on to much brake. Loads the engine. Everything has been adjusted as the manual explains. Right side track is steering well but is not driving also has been adjusted as the manual explains. I put the blade against a tree and only the left side spins.
Does anyone know a mechanic in the East Springfield, Richmond, Bergholtz, Ohio area that will work on a JD 1010? I am out of ideas.

Left side clutch may be sticking. Try backing off the bolt that actuates the brake band, make sure clutch pressure plate is actually disengaging by visual inspection, and test it by driving it and pulling both levers. If it does not come to a stop, the clutch isn't letting go.

The right side sounds like you will have to replace the clutch disks.
