440IC Single Spool Hydraulic Valve

Post by lizrad999 » Sun Aug 03, 2008 3:57 pm

I'm a little puzzled about my hydraulic valve.
When I got the dozer, the valve had five (5) lines hooked to it.
1. Is the Inlet from the pump (left side when facing valve flat on table)
2. Connects to one end of both cylinders.(on top while flat on table etc....)
3. Connects to other end of both cylinders.(also on top while flat on table etc....)
4. Line comming off of top, a tad lower and just next to #2. (Parts book shows this as the return to the resevoir and has an elbow that goes in it.
5. Connected to large "plug" on right side of valve. This one is the one that confuses me. The parts book shows this as a solid plug, but the one I have had a line coming out of it and back into the resevoir as well, and it says "Outlet".
Do I need two outlets back to the resevoir?
Finally, my parts book also shows four (4) openings in the top to my resevoir, and that is how many I have, but it also says that a "rubber stopper" is inserted in one of them? Seriously??
Thanks for your help.
