Hello guys
The machine shop says the head is cracked
Haven't seen it yet
Could this be like a chevy small block in that it doesn't matter?
What is one worth?
there is a head shop 100 miles from here what should a fix cost me ?
The machine shop says it's not fixable

What other heads will work?

Cracked heads are not uncommon on 420's. They normally crack between the valves, can not be run, they will take on water if you do. I have had some fixed by a shop about 60 miles from me, but what he does is a lost art, and real hard to find anyone that can do it anymore. Add to that the fact that most repairs are $200-$400 just for the repair, then the regular machine work comes later.
420, 430, and early 440 are the same.
I have heads if you need one.

I just wanted to ask and see if any one else has heard of someone fixing a head using their oven? From my understanding, the head is heated up to 400 or 450 degrees and then welded. The head is then put back in the oven and the temperature is dropped 50 degrees every half hour?
