Going to look at a winch for my 420 .

Post by Lu47Dan » Sun Aug 10, 2008 7:07 pm

I am going sometime this week to look at a Gearmatic or Cargo winch for the 420 , the person who told me about it says it came off a 420 or a 430 crawler . In my inspection what should I look for , IE parts needed to install it on my crawler . Which of the pto shafts drive the winch ? The high speed shaft or the low speed shaft ? The people who have the winch do not know what they have or what it is worth that is for sure . It is not complete as they took the handle off of it for use on something else . Would it be worth me buying for a reasonable price to add on to my 420 ? Dan

It drives off the high speed drive. If you have a PTO shaft you will have to remove it and get the cover plate.

From what I've seen in pictures there is a rod on each side of the machine that secures the winch to the side frames up where your feet are. You'll want to make sure you have those and the attaching brackets.
