4 Cylinder gas ?

Post by snowshoveler » Sat Sep 06, 2008 10:35 am

Heard about an older crawler today so i went and had a look at it.
Owner wasnt home so i didnt get to involved with it.
So here is what i noticed ...
its a tiny thing.
only has 1 roller on top.
4 cyl gas.
headlights.
slant dash.
throttle on left, short straight control lever ?
heavy grill guard.
outside push frame ,similar to a 2010 i guess.manual angle with pins
good looking drawbar.
chains, sprockets, rollers and rails look very good.
I was very surprised to find that it was a gas engine and even more so to see that its actually in pretty good shape.
only thing that concerns me is on the inside bottom of the right track the guard or what ever it is called (runs from front of track to rear of track),is seperated at the rear and pushed out a few inches.
Is really a guard or is it part of the frame on that side.
It appears to be steel because cast would have broken with that kind of bending.
Dont even know if i can buy it ,but i know the owner and will talk to him and get more info and some pics if you think its possibly a keeper.
Thanks Chris

1010 has the throttle on the right. Can you get some pics?

There is a lever on the left side..just figgured it was the throttle.
Seat and base arent on it either,im thinking the owner has put it inside the barn.
Its been used at a small scale sawmill for most of its life.
I was actually aware of this machine for some time but was told it was a much newer 350.
My boss and I actually went there to look at a backhoe that he is interested in.
So when i saw the crawler i looked it over.
all im sure of is its a gas 4 and its got 1 top roller (on 1 side anyway).
will get pics with owners permission.
Thanks chris

Early 1010s have throttle and gear shift on right-hand side of dash. Later 1010s have different transmissions and ratios - and the gearshift is on the floor.

They all came with rock-guards on the bottom of the track-frame to protect the rollers. That's probably what you're seeing. Many have been left off and thrown out over the years. Those that are still on are often bent, broken, falling-off, etc.
