I started my crawler after sitting a few weeks and it will NOT go in gear! The clutch linkage is moving and feels good with about 1in. of play.I started it in gear and moved it,pushing in the clutch did NOTHING!I had to pull back on both sticks to stop it.WTH is going on???Thanks :(

some times when they sit for a while in a damp area the clutch can stick to the fly wheel. I had a jeep that would do that.

If the clutch disk is stuck like suggested, try putting it in the highest gear and pull the levers back so the engine will start. Bump the machine around a little with the steering levers while holding the clutch pedal down. This may break it loose.

This has happened to my wheel tractors on occasion as well.

I don't know if it would work with a 440 crawler, but on our wheel tractors we would tow it with another vehicle in a higher gear and then rapidly work the clutch pedal. Sometimes that is enough to break it loose.

I guess you would have to have something that could tow the crawler though, and I'm not sure it is good for the transmission or final drives in a crawler. Also not sure if you could really tow a crawler like that!

Start it in second gear and get it to an area where you can dig. Start digging or pushing while holding the clutch in, this may free it up. If not, you will have to split it and take the clutch apart.
