sprockets
hello can anyone tell me the difference between casting number -m3088t and -casting number-m3098t, i cant quite read mine it looks like 3088, i have a chance to buy two that say 3098, the only problem is the track frames are welded solid so i need to keep the same spocket width, thanks ,,Eric
This is what PC-505 says
T16261T ( - ) Sprocket , drive , 36" - 46" tread (sub for M3098T)
T16529T ( - ) Sprocket , drive , 38" - 44" tread ( sub for M3099T)
You need to figure out your tread width then use these numbers for reference .
Eric your 88 is probably a 98 . Hope this helps Dan

thanks dan! when you say 34--36 is this the sprocket hieght? i laid a striaght edge on each sprocket and measured to axle flange and came up with two different specs one was 3.5 inches one was 3.25, is this right or is it because one is worn? i have a chance to buy two used sprockets just want to make sure they fit and dont want to hold owner up to long,,thanks..Eric
Eric,
Tread width is what determines which sprocket your crawler used . Tread width is defined as the distance between the center one sprocket to the center of the other sprocket . The way I checked mine was to measure from the outside edge of one sprocket to the inside edge of the other sprocket . The M3098 sprockets could be flipped inside to outside to narrow the tread width to 36" that would be with the Concave part of the sprocket pointing in towards the final drive , or 46" tread width with the concave part of the sprocket pointing out away from the final drive . The M3099T sprockets had the given range of 34" to 44" . The flange to face of the sprocket measurement I do not have at the moment as I have not seen it in the service manual as of yet . The difference in the measurements could be from wear and tear on the sprockets . To check that measure across the root of one of the gullets? (the space were the pin engages the sprocket) on both sprockets that will tell you if you have a lot of wear to the sides of the sprocket .
Since your track carrier frames are welded to the cross members you do need to confirm the tread width and casting numbers before buying two new (used) ones . Put the sprockets back one and make the measurements to confirm their identity . Hope this explains the tread width for you . Dan

Tread width
Question!?!? can you double check your tread width specs please? It would seem to me that they MIGHT be 36" - 44" and 34" - 46" (deeper dish will move the tread width more in EITHER direction)!Lu47Dan wrote:This is what PC-505 says
