420 final drive brake band adjustment nut frozen...

Post by emmett » Sun Nov 23, 2008 7:29 pm

Little help please.
Want to adjust brake band tension.
Pretty rusty around the brake band, steering lever, throw-out bearing area of the starboard side final drive.
That funky brake band adjustment nut, that seats every quarter turn, is froze on the adjustment spindle. Port side adjustment nut easy to spin.
I sprayed it with penetrating oil with no luck.

I want to avoid pulling the final drive apart to get to it. Not to mention breaking and remounting the track.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Emmett

Keep soaking in pentrating oil and don't get in a hurry. It takes time for the oil to soak in. soak it and forget about it for a few days and then do it all over again.

Good luck
