I AM TTRYING TO TIGHTEN THE FAN BELT ON MY MC AND CANNOT GET THE NUT LOOSE. ANY IDEAS ON HOW TO HOLD THE SPINDLE FROM TURNING WHILE TRYING TO LOOSEN THE NUT.

There should be a hole that a roll pin would fit in or a roll pin punch to hold shaft.....be carefull not to break the punch or the flat washer when you retighten.

would that hole be just aft of the belt pullys? I was looking for flats or holes but have not found anything yet. will go back out and look again.

I think it is through the shaft in the area of the shaft that is in the slot in the bracket.

Lavoy, found the hole where you said, but someone in the distant past broke off something in it. I decided that a loose belt will be easier on the bearings so left well enough alone. At least for now.

Bob,
I have in the past on a 40, very carefully pry upward on the nut and was able to get the fan to slide upward enough to tighten the belt.

Lavoy, Will see if I can try that. It is pretty low, don't know if I can get under it. With all the pentretrating oil I have on it, it just may slide a bit.
