440 on eBay

Post by robk » Mon Dec 08, 2008 7:58 pm

I just noticed this one. It's yellow all over. For $7500, it even comes with the lovely optional upgraded color matched tracks and hydraulic hoses. How nice!

If you only know how much special order color-coordinated hoses cost, you would not be laughing.

You guys are harsh. So he's got no feedback, goes with a user ID starting with "joey", and thinks the way you sell a crawler is to blow yellow paint on everything (including the broken off pieces of the sprocket shields) and then overprice it. Everybody's got to start out somewheres.

Me, I'm going to price my 1010CA at $30,000 when its done and sell it to some rich collector. Failing that, Lavoy seems to have a soft spot for early new generation crawlers for reasons I can't imagine and might actually be regarded as a mental health issue in some circles. I can say that 'cause I have a 1010CA and I know I have mental health issues either resulting in or caused by having said crawler.

Is there a home for us when our wives have had enough? ...a place where we can all be together until we die? My wife is from Mississippi. When she goes out behind the shop (my world), she puts her hands on her hips, scowls and states in a loud voice, "Ee-ut looks lahk WEST VIRGINIA back hee-ah!" Apparently this is an insult. To me, it's all handy stuff. We should all post pictures of our back yards. I think this would cement our bond as a band of mentally ill brothers. I love you guys. Now please, go wash.

Hey now, I resemble that implication?!?!?!?

Bill,
You won't be lauging so hard when I put my freshly rebuilt injector pump on my newfound toy and discover that it has a hole in a piston! Oh wait a minute, yes you will.

Rob,
One benefit of having had over 100 crawlers is the wife long ago lost the ability to keep track of what is new, and what is old.

The phrase above, "had over 100 crawlers" creeps me out. I think I mentioned in a past post about the deal I made for two 1010's that, when it came to explaining it to my beloved, I created the marvelous idea that I could park one in front and one in back and tell her it was the same one... I just moved it.

This note hardly belongs in the technical forum. Where's the moderator when you need him? Over and out.

Painting old crawlers

Post by JD440ICD2006 » Tue Dec 09, 2008 3:18 pm

One of the signs of a good painter is one that can spray around the dirt and not get any paint on it. This speaks well for any crawler seller.
I hope they used "permanent" paint so that the tracks will stay yellow.
Maybe they could spray paint a cover on the side of the hydraulic box? And while they are spraying, paint some sprokets covers back on it.

I got him to admit to it being a diesel, now somebody else find out if it is a 4 speed or 5 speed and if the reverser works? Way too far away from me for buyer pick-up although I would like to go to a NA$CAR race there.

I saw that someone had asked that question- I loved his one word answer.

He actually abbreviated my question but a one word answer is what I received also.
