Track Adjusting Tube for JD440IC

Post by jd440 » Tue Nov 01, 2005 4:50 pm

Hello,

I am building a replacement for the bent adjusting tube for the track tensioner on my JD440IC. Has anyone built one before?

I need to know the best choice for the tube - 2.375" OD, 0.218" WT. The tube appears to be made from a 2" schedule 80 steel pipe.

Thanks,

Derek (JD440)

I have not made one.

If you ask for a 2" Schd 80 steel pipe you will more or less only have one choice. It will be A53 steel. It's very weldable.

If you can't find that than another choice is carbon steel "tubing" Tubing will go by the actual OD and desired wall thickness. If it needs to be welded, but sure to ask your supplier if it's weldable. (some tubing has calcium or lead added for better machining)
