NEED A CYLINDER HEAD DETROIT 2-53

Post by 1959440icd » Sun Feb 15, 2009 12:08 pm

I tore my engine a part and took my head to our local machine shop only to find out my head was cracked. I have not had any luck at locating one, any assitance would be appreciated. THANKS, JIM

Jim,

Cylinder heads can be welded. Our little 2 cylinder Ford 1700 diesel tractor had a cracked head and the machine shop sent it to a place in Mississippi who welded it and performed a valve job. So far the tractor has been running just fine. They did say some cracks can be welded and some can't, just depends on where its cracked.

Might be worth checking into.

Good luck,

Brad
