40c 4 roller, needs a roller

Post by deereskinner » Thu Feb 26, 2009 1:41 pm

I recently aquired a 55 model 40 4 roller with a mc1000 tool carrier that is all complete and working. I noticed when I got it home the clamp bolts were loose that hold the undercarriage to the track frames were loose, well I pulled the tracks and had to remove the integral lift system in order to get to these bolts to tighten them. I had a feeling this was going to be a can of worms and sure enough. Once I had everything loose and open, I thought I had better give the rollers a wiggle and I have one that is very wobbly so I know I have to do something. My question is, when I find a good used one, assuming you cant rebuild them or its just too far worn, any replacement I get will probably have more meat on it than my other rollers. So do I rearrange them so the best rollers are on the front, I figure with a worn undercarriage you wouldnt put it on the back because it would hold the chain lower than the sprocket, would I have to run the tracks tighter? Any suggestions, please advise?

You need a used roller with about the same wear as your other rollers. I have a few used ones left, you can measure yours and I can see what I have.
