40C sprocket wear

Post by boler76 » Wed Mar 25, 2009 9:19 am

I would like some idea as to what the measurements should be on the drive sprockets so I will know if they still are good or should be looked at replacing, I have no idea what height or depth the teeth should be, Thanks

I don't know that I have any specs on that. I guess what I look at is the thickness of the flange itself. If it is thinner on one side, how thick it is overall. When it gets too thin, then it starts to chip and/or bend so that you are not fully distributing the stress on the bushing.

Thanks Lavoy, I suspect it would be prudent to switch sides so that they get to wear more evenly beings how they will get more use in the forward direction???

It depends on your useage, or how the crawler was used, but not a bad idea. If the wear is due to pitch elongation, I will probably not matter.
