440 icd throw out bearing sleve

My sleve has a large flare on the outside end,whyis this and should I replace it or hammer it straight again?????Jim

Jimmy-

That is from the clutch end bearing getting worn if I'm not mistaken. (I do know it's from wear and age)

I just got one for my 420c .. it wasn't that much.. I'm pretty sure less than $20.00. Personally, I'd just get a new one and know it's round and straight.

I assume you mean steering clutch? If so, it occurs when the throwout bearing holder gets rusty and pulls the sleeve out and jams it up against the clutch disc drive hub. It will also happen if someone has overtightened the adjusting bolt and crushed the washer enough that the bolt hits the throwout tube and pulls it out.
Straightening it is a waste of time, and as Jimmy said, they are not expensive, around $22 now.
