420c right steering lever is sloppy.

Post by jdjohng » Tue Nov 15, 2005 6:05 pm

The right steering lever on my 420c is sloppy where it goes into the housing causing it to sit at a little different angle than the left one. It steers good but I know something is wrong in there. Any ideas?

Hi,
There is a bushing in the clutch housing. If the bushing is gone then it will be real sloppy. If you use it that way long enough then the housing and
shaft will be damaged. If remove the lever you may be able to install
a new bushing.The JD part number is M 1638 T.Hope this helps
you fix the problem.JimAnderson
