Seals are often not the true problem. Usually it's loose shafts or loose ring-gear carriers that by shucking back and forth, takes out the seals.spenceraucoin wrote:Need some advice i have aoil leaking on the brake band is there a kwick fix i can do, or do i need to put new seals in ????????????????????????? 1010 dozer,,,,,,
Just plain old bearing wear over the years.
No quick fix that I know of. Pull it apart and check all bearing adjustments. Them shim all to get proper preload and eliminate movement, install new seals, and that ought to do it.
Just be careful when taking shims out of the ring-gear carrier. You can only remove from one side or you'll screw up the pinion-to-ring adjustment.
