440 icd sprokets

Post by frozendozer » Wed May 13, 2009 3:55 pm

i just got my 440 icd work last night and drove it around the yard. i had some one come over investigating all the commotion and they had a look over my project.

This fellow has much expiernce with operating machines and when he seen my drive sproket and track combo he told me that it was all wrong. the sprocket teeth only contact the track on every second tooth. is this normal?, or is it as he said, someone must have changed the tracks at one time?

regardless of the response, the little machine runs nice and unless a set of tracks fall from the sky, i cant see myself changing them.

He can't have too much experience if he thinks sprockets contact every tooth. On roller chain it might or does, but not track chain. It the sprocket contacted every bushing, a 440 crawler would have links less than 3" long, you just can't do that. You're crawler is fine, drive it and enjoy it.
