OK guys I need some opinions. I found a 430c somewhat near me that is a parts machine but probably better than that if you know what I mean. The 4 roller track frames are junk though. 1 of the front idlers has brand new brackets. Most of the rollers are real tight. 1 of the final drives came from JD right before the guy took it down for the track frames and the other side needs bearings but has no welds or cracks. The clutch housings look good from what I can see. Both sprockets are excellent. Tracks are off but one set that goes with it are the flat pads and are tight. Someone put a winch on it-a HEIL winch and it runs off the pto. If the brackets were a little better you wuold almost think it was really meant to be there. The engine is the original(correct dipstick) and it has the clutch pack style reverser. He is firm on his price @ 1250.00. Sheet metal need lots of love. What do guys think?

The price sounds fair for what you describe.You haven't told us what
you intend to do with it though.If you part it out then definitely buy
it.If you want to work it or restore then there are some things to check.
You didn't say if it is a four or five speed.Since the 430 input shaft is
longer than the sub 125,000 420 shafts it is an expensive beast to
replace since fewer 430 machines were built.A good 5 speed shaft
can run $400.00 to $500.00.A four speed shaft is even harder to
find .An earlier input shaft can be used though if you don't use the
reverser and get the correct coupling shaft.Also check the ring
and pinion if you can.Crawlers tended to shock load the teeth
so breakage and chipping can occur.If the reverser is in good
shape then the machine is definitely worth the asking price but
if it needs repairs then dig deep into the pockets.JimAnderson

Well I picked it u today and the guy had a # 62 blade dug out of the weeds that went with it. The blade is missing the one extesion arm but the rest looks OK. The lift cyl's will need new chrome. I am afraid to ask but if I do not part this out where would I get a grill shell as this one is shot? I am also going to sell the winch and the pto for it as it is different than normal pto's so if any one wnts a winch let me know and I will shoot off some pictures. It turns and should be ok with some tlc. I will have to get some pictures up so you guys can see this peach.
