2010 serial number

Post by hemidrag » Mon Jul 27, 2009 1:09 pm

Where can I locate the serial numbers on a 2010. I have found the number on the engine but that does little good as it was a diseal and now has a gas motor. I want to get two new track adjusters and three good rolls but need to know if it is pre or post 42000... Thanks Paul

IF the engine had been swapped, there is no way to tell other than to narrow it down based on serial number breaks in the parts books.

If that is the case can you tell me what the diffrence is in the adjusters and rolls, so that I might be able to measure or whatever to know what parts to look for... Paul

I can check for sure tonight in my parts book, but I think the bottom rollers and hydraulic adjusters for the 2010 are the same regardless of serial number. Lavoy can tell you for sure or I can confirm in the morning.

The main undercarriage parts that I know change between serial number ranges on the 2010 are the sprockets and the chain links/pins and bushings.

If there is a serial number break difference, you can probably figure it out by looking at the part niber embossed on the sprockets. The sprocket numbers changed at 42,000 (when Deere changed from the smaller pins and bushings also used on the 1010 to the larger pins/bushings used on the 350 series). I don't have those serial numbers handy but could tell you tomorrow.

2010 Serial # Location

Post by 2010OWNER » Sat Aug 01, 2009 6:54 pm

The serial # on my 2010 crawler is located on the left side of the bell housing, just above the starter.
On my 2010 tractor, it is on the right side of the engine in front of the distributor.

My understanding is that at some serial number interval (maybe 42,000?), Deere started putting the serial number on the bellhousing instead of the engine block for the 2010 crawlers. Unfortunately, mine is an early serial number and serial number plate is gone.

serial number break difference

Post by coloradochuck » Wed Nov 04, 2009 4:14 pm

JD 2010 Diesel Crawler Dozer: My serial number plate is gone. If somebody has a parts book, could you please check my embossed sprocket number 13284, and tell me if this is a 42,000 and lower or higher serial number. Thank you to all replies.
I'm just at loss to determine what year my crawler is and I need to get a parts book and buy some parts but gotta know what I've got first.
Any help or suggestions is much appreciated.

Thank you Stretch. I can at least get a parts manual and get going.
