OK, one more question, or two?

Post by gus » Sat Aug 15, 2009 6:29 pm

I have a couple of posts going on the 420/440 interchange so this is one more. I wish I had a 440 book to look it up.

Since this is a loader tractor, it probably had a reverser. IF.... it's still there, will it interchange?

At what point on the drive train will parts fit?? Is the engine the same block? Housings to the tranny?? I know the 440 had larger trans and more power, but were the bolt patterns different?

Gus,
Parts interchange between 420 and 440 is serial number specific
so give us the 440 serial number range(44800) above or below. Also
420 serial number range.JimAnderson

Unless you have a 420 above 131,309, the reverser is different. Also would need this serial number range and above for some of the trans parts to interchange assuming you have a small transmission 440.

Thanks for the answers, I appreciate it. I will go up there Wens to get the tracks. I'll get the info and also then I'll know what's left of it and the condition.

I don't think anything but the tracks will work for me as my tractor is a low serial no. :( :(
