40C Bent Pushrod

Post by Philthytoo » Mon Oct 05, 2009 4:34 pm

I traced my back-firing out the carb issue to a bent pushrod, intake on the front cylinder. I'm gonna pull the head to start looking at why it bent, but I know I'll need a couple pushrods and probably a head gasket. What's the going price for these? Model 40C, Ser. No 70263. I'm in California, zip is 93527. Any help will be greatly appreciated!
Thanks, Phil

I know a lot of people will disagree but if they aren't bent too bad and not kinked I straighten and reuse them. I've done this on 2 cylinder engines as well as 6 and 8 cylinder engines, and never with any problems. Mark:

I thought about that, too. This one's bent in two directions at two places, and I think I could straighten it, but I'm gonna look at the other one from the same cylinder and see what's up.
