You can run a 3 point PTO tiller on the rear of a tractor like a 420. Your crawler speed is going to be slower than a tractor in the same gear.
If your 420C has 3 point and PTO, and you have or get a 3 point tiller, I think you are set.

i did build a three point for it and has a pto, and that why i did, figured it would work. heard of a few behind an OC-3 with aux trans. why not on a 420? i know my ford tractors are gear to high even with a three speed sherman

you should have a nice little setup,I am not sure how much extra power you will have, but it should do the job for you.
crawlers with 3 point hitches become very useful...running all kinds of attachments.

I would not attempt to bush hog my fields with a crawler, it would ruin the field with tracks.
For some reason, the factory 3 point seems weak. About everyone I have seen is broken and/or has been repaired.

The crawler 3 points are built heavier than the tractor 3 points due to the extra traction and therefore the added stress. Even on a tractor you put a hell of a lot of stress on the links if you turn and are slow on getting the impliment out of the ground. All damage that I have seen is due to operator error.

JD440 , you wouldn't be making tracks in the field- that thar is what ya call aireatun the turf!

Chuck,

After last years rains and all of the grass cutting that followed, I do not want to anything that makes it grow any faster or better.

the three point works great, i built it fairly stout but you still need to becarfull with it. pulled box scraper with it, its like having a turn-a-pull. a few days ago, i looked at 5' and 6' tillers, the 5' tillers are off set to cover wheel tracks (or crawler tracks), took little less power to run.
i have put an old V type snow blower on it too, worked good in normal snow. as far as mowing goes, work awsome on dithes an on the soft stuff where the little 8n leaves ruts.

That brought back some memories of watching roads being built when I was a kid. I thought they were calling them "turner-pulls" (or "turn a pulls") so that is what I called them for many years. Not so many years ago, I happened to read an article that made me laugh.

The real name was LeTourneau, who is the guy that developed the pull type scrapers. It was shortened to "Tourneau Pull".
It sure sounded like "turner-pull" to me.

If you could get pictures of a real one, you could just down size it to match the crawler.
If you have an extra hydraulic circuit, you could have a cylinder on the pan to operate the gate. Actually, you may want two circuits so you can also raise and lower the scrape bed & blade.
The first ones operated with cables, but a cable system may be too much of a hassle to design and keep running properly.
It would make for a very interesting project and would be the talk at shows.

My brother has two of the small Letourneau's you mentioned. They are called a D4 Airborne. They were carried in Waco gliders and C47's in WWII for use in building landing strips and such.
Small pull behind scrapers are around. I have a 2 1/2 yard Eversman, and we have an old 1 3/4 yard Henry at the farm. I have Deere Allied Aftermarket literature showing the Henry being pulled by a two cylinder crawler.

I've been looking at M tractor rockshaft setups on ebay and wondering if one will bolt up on a mc. They look like a self contained unit that would bolt right on top of the tranny houseing under the seat, i know i'd have to run hyd lines, but i think it'd be real handy to have a three point on it!
