That means there were only 4 more units built after yours. Spread among the 4 models, it would not be impossible for you to have the second to last one built.

I guess that's could be. And there were only 8 more total built after it. I was just thinking I may have the newest one left still operating.

No, there was only 4 more built after yours 922, 923, 924, and 925. Those 4 serial number would have been spread among IC, ICD, I, and ID. The only known number being an ICD is 925. If the other numbers were tractors or gassers, you would have the second to last ICD built.

I hsve a note from somewhere that the last 440ICD was 925 but the last 440IC was 929, is this not correct? I allways thought there were 4 gas machines built after the last diesel, I realize they could all be tractors instead of crawlers. My latest one is 460196 so I am a ways out of the running.

Actually an IC was the last two cylinder gasoline tractor made at Dubuque, serial number 463,929, so many gassers built after the last diesel.

You know when I traded for this crawler , the old fellow had another just like it except the bucket was gone and he asked which one I wanted and I said the one with the bucket of course. And thinking back he did say the two were close on the serial numbers. I only had wanted one and did not ask nor look to see just how close they were. Now I wish I had ! I traded three tractors for it, 58 720 diesel std., 54 "R", 49 "D" parts tractor
