6 way blade
Does anyone know where I can find a service, parts,or just a blow up, for the control valve on a six way blade. I have a 2010 with 6way and it is leaking 8 ways. I have parts and service manuals for machine but there is nothing on this area. I have a good shop in the area that feels they can come up with all the right parts so I guess I will give it a go no matter what....

You will need to get the parts manual for the blade. It will show all of the parts for the blade assembly, including hydraulics.hemiracing wrote:Does anyone know where I can find a service, parts,or just a blow up, for the control valve on a six way blade...

I don't know for sure that the parts manual is available for your blade number, but Deere has one for the loader assembly on my 2010 crawler.
I think you can also look up the parts online here if you have the blade number:

Ok I guess the next question is where might I find the number or model for the blade. I am sure it was put on new as I bought this from the original owner who is long since passed. It is a 6foot 6 way inside blade...

Your 420 parts manual IS on the John Deere site. Just type in "420". It will be one of the first couple of listings which are pdf documents for older equipment. WAIT awhile for it to load after clicking it. The crawlers are covered in the same parts manual as the wheel tractors.

I have the 622 parts catalog for the 2010, I can e-mail it to you. PM me your e-mail.
There had to be a bulldozer Hydraulic Service manual for these back in the day and I have not found it yet, I found one for the 6300 and 6400 bulldozers that are installed on 350 and 450 that may help you. if you want that one I might have to put it on a CD

Hey I would just like to say THANKS for all the help. We are so lucky to have each other... I went to my dealer before this topic and he looked at me like I had three heads (young guy, old dealer). I went back after all this info with parts numbers in hand, all though most #s had to be updated, and left with half the parts in hand and the rest will be there by Friday.Same young guy, same old dealer, but without this forum and all YOUR help it would never have happened....
Hell, I asked my JD parts guy to look up the cutting edge for a 62 blade (on a 420). He told me there was no such thing. Lavoy gave me the part number and I had parts guy order one. All the sudden he "knows" that this is a 2 piece cutting edge and orders 2. So 2 6 foot cutting edges came in. We asked him if a 12 foot blade was an option on the 420...

Hi,
I might be that the part comes in a 'two-pack'. I don't know if this is the case for this part or not, but I have gone after other 420 parts and found that whilst I needed one, the package contains more than one.
You'd think that a cutting edge for a dozer blade would be a one-pack, but I've seen larger things come in two-packs.
Heck, that happened with a new sickle bar. Not the cutter bar - the entire attachment. I ordered one, and a pallet holding two showed up on the truck. The dealer was then at a loss for what to do with the second one. I was the first customer in six years that wanted an old-fashioned sickle bar....
Also, it's par for the course that the parts folks know nothing about these old machines. They are no longer listed in the main system. I always drag the parts catalog along to ensure I'm asking for the correct part number. They have to enter the old number into a cross reference system and -poof- they now show the part under it's new number.
Handy!
later!
Stan

I had a pretty interesting conversation a couple years back with my local JD industrial dealer (Murphy Tractor). They are the website I hyperlinked on this board that has online original specification sheets posted for many of these machines and attachments.
Most of the parts guys there are pretty good and are somewhat familiar with the various models Deere has carried, but one day I had their backup parts/sales guy at the counter. I needed a bucket pin for my Model 50 backhoe attachment. When he couldn't find it in their parts computer, he said I must have the Model number incorrect, because they didn't have a full-size backhoe with that model number.
He kept insisting that I must be mistaken- UNTIL I pointed out that his very own office's website has a specification sheet showing the exact model! he then shook his head and admitted they didn't really know much about their old models and was suprised people still used them.
I now take the parts book with me for the exact reasons Stan does.
