1010 Rt side Steering Lever

Post by Johno » Sat Jul 03, 2010 3:48 pm

The rt side steering lever on my 1010 crawler Ser # 20169 broke at the end where the key slot is. It has been welded before by one of the previous owners and was working when I test drove it but it broke when we were loading it on the trailer. My question, is it worth rewelding or is it possible to find another one and if so where would I begin to look?

They are a little tough to find. I might have one, but I think it is for a later serail number. Bill Wattson has made some repair ends to weld on the old levers. I will e-mail him and mention this post to him.

I can sure make more if it will help. The problem with the cast steel levers is that they're really brittle and fail whenever they start getting beat around like when you're trying to get them off the steering shaft. I made this replacement end out of 1018 steel so it will take the abuse. If you'd like me to machine one for you, drop me a PM.
